GENERAL INFORMATION
The ADEMCO 6150 and ADEMCO 6160 are addressable Remote Keypads designed for use with ADEMCO control panels. Addresses are set via the keypad keys. The keys on the keypads are continuously backlit for convenience. Supervised by control panel (if supported).

WIRING AND INSTALLATION
The keypads can be surface mounted directly to a drywall, or to a single- or double-gang electrical box. 1. Push the two case release snaps at the bottom of the keypad with the blade of a medium screwdriver (this will push in the release snap), then pull that side of the case back away. Insert the screwdriver in the side of the keypad (between the front and back case) and gently twist to release the side locking tab. Repeat for the other side. Refer to Figure 1 for location of the case back release snaps and locking tabs. 2. Route wiring from the control panel through the opening in the case back. 3. Mount the case back to a wall or electrical box. 4. Wire directly from the keypad’s terminal block to the terminal block on the control panel. (See Wiring Table below). NOTE: No more than one wire per terminal may be connected. If daisy-chained configuration is required, pig-tail wires together so that only one wire is terminated under the screw. Use 16-24 AWG wire only!

SPECIAL FUNCTION KEYS
The keypads also feature function keys. These keys may be programmed for panic alarms or other special functions such as macros. See the control's instructions for details.

SETTING THE KEYPAD ADDRESS
The keypad can either be set for an address of 00-30, or to the non-addressable mode (31). The keypad's default address is 31. To change the keypad's address, do the following: 1. Enter address mode: Power up the keypad. Within 60 seconds of power-up, press and hold down the [1] and [3] keys at the same time for 3 seconds. (If unable to enter address mode, power up and try again.) The current keypad address will be displayed, and the cursor will be under the 'tens' digit. If 10 seconds have passed with no key entry, the keypad automatically exits address mode. You must power down, power up and start address mode again. NOTE: The keypad will not enter address mode if the panel to which it is connected is in programming mode. 2. Set the current address to '00': Press [0] to clear the current 'tens' digit. The cursor will move to the 'ones' digit position. Press [0] to clear the current 'ones' digit. The cursor will move back to the 'tens' digit position. 3. Enter the keypad's address: Enter the proper 'tens' digit of the keypad's address. The cursor will move to the 'ones' digit position. Enter the proper 'ones' digit of the keypad's address. Note that address '31' sets the keypad to non-addressable mode. 4. Exit address mode: Press [ ] to save the displayed address and exit address mode. VIEWING THE KEYPAD ADDRESS Press and hold down the [1] and [3] keys at the same time for about 3 seconds. The current address is displayed. No key entry is allowed. Press any key to exit or wait 10 seconds to exit viewing mode.

A Honeywell K4392V2-H M7240 is the part name of the small plastic flip-down door that covers the push buttons on both the Honeywell 6150 Hardwired Keypad and the Honeywell 5828 Wireless Keypad. This plastic door is completely optional on both keypads, and it can be removed if desired.


The K4392V2-H M7240 is often confused for the name of either the Honeywell 6150 Keypad or the Honeywell 5828 Keypad. But this is incorrect. The K4392V2-H M7240 is nothing more than the part name of the small plastic door that covers the buttons on these keypads. Since these keypads are of similar size and have similar dimensions, Honeywell decided to use the same part for these two keypads. If a user wanted to, they could easily take the K4392V2-H M7240 part from a Honeywell 6150 and put it on a Honeywell 5828. Likewise, they could take the K4392V2-H M7240 part from a 5828 and put it on a 6150.

Some users might believe that K4392V2-H M7240 is the model number for an alarm control panel. This is also incorrect. Neither the 6150 Keypad nor the 5828 Keypad are alarm control panels. They are merely keypads that serve as secondary access points for controlling a security system. The Honeywell 6150 is a hardwired keypad that works with Honeywell VISTA Systems only. The Honeywell 5828 is a wireless keypad that works with Honeywell LYNX Touch Systems and any Honeywell VISTA System that has a wireless transceiver.

Please note that both the 6150 and the 5828 are Fixed English keypads. This means that they cannot be used for deep level programing. Deep level programming can only be performed from an alphanumeric keypad, like a Honeywell 6160, or from a wireless all-in-one panel, like a Honeywell LYNX Touch System. The purpose of these Fixed English keypads is only to provide a secondary access point to the system. All system programming will typically be performed from either an alphanumeric keypad or from the panel itself.

It's also important to note that there are multiple versions of both the Honeywell 6150 and the Honeywell 5828 Keypads. In addition to the standard 6150 Keypad, there is also the Honeywell 6150RF Keypad and the Honeywell 6150V Keypad. The 6150RF includes a wireless receiver for supporting wireless sensors. The 6150V offers spoken voice capabilities to speak out the Zone Descriptor for a zone when a sensor is activated. Otherwise, the 6150RF and 6160V Keypads are exactly the same as a standard 6150 Keypad. Please note that there is no version of the 6150 that includes an integrated wireless receiver, while simultaneously offering spoken voice capabilities. All versions of the 6150 use the same Honeywell K4392V2-H M7240 door.

As for the Honeywell 5828 Keypad, there is also the 5828V Keypad. This version of the 5828 offers spoken voice capabilities. This means that it will speak out the programmed Zone Descriptor whenever a sensor is activated. It will also speak out the current state of the system whenever it is armed or disarmed. But besides this feature, the 5828V is the same as the 5828. Again, both versions use the exact same Honeywell K4392V2-H M7240 door.

The Honeywell K4392V2-H M7240 should not be confused with the Honeywell K4274V1-H M7274. This is the part name of a very similar, but larger, plastic door that is used with the Honeywell 6160 Keypad. Just like the smaller door used with the 6150 and 5828 Keypads, the only purpose of the Honeywell K4274V1-H M7274 is to cover up the buttons on its respective keypad. This plastic door is also completely optional, the end user can remove it if the wish.
